Making Jesus Known
Our Mission Plan
Our mission is to make Jesus known in Cobo by serving God, each other and the community. Our Mission Plan is in the process of being revised and an update will be added in due course.
Where do we go from here?
We have six primary aims. These are:
1. Plan housing for a Priest in the future
- Setting up a project to ring fence a capital sum from existing funds and holding at least one fund raising event per year.
2. Engage in local mission
- Continue to build links with the primary schools and establish links with the 6th Form Centre when it moves to the La Mare site. Support the work of PACE in the schools
- Launch new website to publicise the church and its ministry
- Produce Church Information Leaflet for visitors, telling the story of St. Matthew’s
- Hold concerts and social events
- Upgrade notice boards
3. Resource and Enhance our Leadership and Ministry
- Relaunch monthly family communion service
- Explore the financing of a part time children and families worker
- Explore new forms of being church (eg Bubble church and Outdoor church)
- Install screens at the front of the church
- Install toilet in the Church
- Increase car parking that is usable through the year
- Formation of a ‘Premises Support Team’ to care for the church building and the church’s land
- Appointment of deputy churchwardens and deputy sacristans and vergers to share the Sunday service load
- Invite visiting preachers
- Explore launching a home group and/or prayer group
4. Champion Climate Justice
- Create wildflower meadow in the field
- Work to achieve the Eco Church Awards
5. Support Action to Challenge Injustice and Poverty
- Re-establish our church link with the Tumaini Fund
- Develop links with other local and overseas charities (with visiting speakers)
6. Finance the Future so that Our Ministry is Sustainable
Increase level of giving to the church through regular giving and legacies
