We Welcome You
Whether you’ve just moved to Guernsey or have called this island home for years, whether you’re exploring faith for the first time or have been a Christian for a lifetime — you are warmly welcome at St. Matthew’s Church, Cobo.
We know visiting a new church can feel a little daunting. But we promise a warm welcome, with space to settle in at your own pace.
We hope the information below answers some of your questions and gives you a feel for what you can expect when you join us.
What to Expect on a Sunday
Our Main Sunday Service: 10:30am
Each week at 10:30am, we gather for worship. When you arrive, our friendly Welcomers will be on hand to greet you, help you find a seat, and answer any questions.
We offer two styles of service on Sunday mornings:
Family Service (First Sunday in the Month)
This service is designed for all ages, especially families. It is relaxed, interactive and joyful – with songs, prayers, and a short talk that brings the message of Jesus alive for everyone.
Around 30mins
Followed by tea, coffee, squash, biscuits – and birthday cake!
Parish Communion (All Other Sundays)
A more traditional service where we share in the bread and wine as a sign of God’s love for us. You will hear Bible readings, hymns, prayers, and a talk (or sermon) relevant to everyday life.
About 1 hour
Refreshments served afterwards – a great chance to meet others and ask any questions.
